Young moved to Los Angeles landing the roles as Cathy Metsker in Randall Wallace The film We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson Madeleine Stowe & Greg Kinnear and Rachel for JJ Abrams Mission Impossible: 3 with Tom Cruise and Keri Russell. Young has also produced several independent films, such as the Sundance popular The Freebie starring Dax Shepard as well as A Country Remedy starring Joshua Leonard who she was a part of and filmed in her native state in North Carolina. Young has enjoyed a success on television since moving to LA. She was in Megan Griffiths' crime drama The Night Stalker, about serial killer Richard Ramirez. The film featured her as a support role of Bernard and Huey, an independent comedy directed by David Koechner and Jim Rash. In 2018, she appeared in Disney the live-action adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time along with Oprah Winfrey Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling.
