April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born on July 4th, 1995. When she was in the 7th grade she began taking piano and guitar lessons. This ignited her passion for music writing. At the age of 12 when she wrote her first single Different. At the age of 14 April was a big devotee of her day writing and practicing songs. Soon after, April started to go on trips with her dad and to write songs at home in NY or LA. April featured other topics in her song"Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled issues like peer pressure, and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart works in partnerships at popular cosmetics brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with her own growing following. Since she was born without a left hand, the woman is an important part of herself. It's however not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart acknowledges her handicap on Instagram, but she isn't making it the focal point of the post. The profile is a statement. We all have multiple aspects and that we are all unique and that we are more than our physical selves. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she didn't want to be defined solely by her disability. She doesn't want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about disability. There are many aspects of Lockhart. This doesn't have any effect on my everyday life. I go about every day as normal and have found the best way for me to adapt to things. But, I consider it a very important part of myself. Lockhart has been a great inspiration to her fellow women regarding acceptance of oneself. Lockhart admits to having been through a few phases regarding her appearance, feeling uneasy in some instances to wear clothes that showed her arms. It's her choice to wear what she likes, and is proud to share photos of herself in these outfits. The key to self-love for her is that it's not an end place to go. But I think that's common to everyone regardless of what their insecurity is. I believe that it's really vital to surround yourself people who are able to see and know your true heart.
